40th bday Vegas style

Overview

Quote:
We saw Rita Rudner at NY,NY and "O" by Cirque du Soleil, along with the spectacular fountains at Bellagio. Eating at W.P.'s Postrio's Cafe canal-side was wonderful too!

Quick Tips:

Take your walking shoes for checking out the Strip! And take your jacket, too. Also take sunglasses - the sun in November is killer. When the wind gusts past 35 mph, expect for the Effiel Tower to stop taking up visitors.

Best Way To Get Around:

City busses are great! And the CAT drivers very helpful. So was Express Shuttle to airport - very economical. But my favorite ride to the various hotels is via free tram service. Not all hotels are online yet, but soon they will all be serviced.

MGM Grand

Hotel

Quote:
MGM Grand is the largest hotel in the world. Very nice room, tastefully decorated. Cold, but large marble bathroom. Convenient to slot machines and quiet at the same time. Free entertainment - lots for kids to do. Many restaurants to choose from (20 plus). Shopping here is a must! Service here is grand.

Wolfgang Puck Postrio Restaurant

Restaurant | "Wolfgang Puck's Postrio"

Canal-side we watched mimes and listened to operatic voices perform Venice's music. We took our time ordering, trusting that the waitstaff would do their job-they did. Hot tea service, and entres were thoroughly enjoyed.

"O" by Cirque Du Soleil

Attraction | "O!"

Quote:
It is so unbelievably good -- words can't communicate the intricacies of this great performance. First, I want to say I bought these tickets 4-5 months ago. So, with much anticipation, the performers, sound engineers, directors, and choregraphers combined their talents to exceed my date's and my approval. Wow. From the scuba divers to the flame throwers to the trapeze artists, you have to see this extravagant, beautiful show.

The Auto Collections at The Imperial Palace

Attraction | "The Imperial Car Museum"

Quote:
It's a quiet, respite from the bustling strip. Also, it's a nice stroll down memory lane--the aisles of cars...Gia's, Thunderbirds, Cadillacs. Many are for sale, and there are special models. I don't love cars but liked this.

Story/Tip

Quote:
We checked out many hotel/casinos, but liked Mandalay Bay and Venetian the best. They were quieter than the rest, and if you don't gamble, there are many other activities to pique your interest. If you do gamble - Ceseare's Palace is golden.
