A Week Off in Montana

A November 2002 trip to Columbia Falls by alan & brenda

A Week Off in Montana

Overview

Quote:
Check out their community theatre. There are three community theatre groups in the area and we saw an excellent performance of Cabaret directed by David Ackroyd. Take a scenic drive of the Flathead Lake region. There's lots of hiking trails available, but you can even enjoy the area without leaving your vehicle.

Quick Tips:

Check out the nightlife. We were wonderfully suprised at the quality of a local watering hole (Blue Moon) and you do have to look into their current theatre productions.

Best Way To Get Around:

Driving your own vehicle or a rental is the best transportation, as the area is quite spread out and you'll want to explore it.

This is a new little bistro/cafe that just opened in Kalispell in the fall of 2002. The atmosphere is great. They make good deli sandwiches but their specialty is their coffee. The lattes and mochas are superb. This is a great neighbourhood coffee house.

The restaurant is located on Highway 2 as you drive through Columbia Falls. You must try this place if you like baby back ribs, as they are superb. It's very casual -- jeans are definitely recommended.

We were pleasantly suprised by the atmosphere of this bar. It was clean, well decorated, and the service was good. It is a very casual country bar - very appropriate for visiting Montana. The people in the bar were friendly and everyone was dancing on and off. The best thing about the place was that it wasn't smokey at all. It was far less smokey than many city bars and clubs I have seen.

The quality of the college production was excellent. There are two other theatre groups in the area, and this seems to help raise the quality of all three groups.

We saw a performance of Cabaret while we were in the area and it was amazing. The costumes and acting were great and we really enjoyed it. It was great community theatre with some talented actors. We highly recommend seeing their current production when you are in the area.
