Short stop in The Sudan

A May 1995 trip to Sudan by Languedoc

Quote: An account of a stop in The Sudan during a trip up the Red Sea on a small ship.

Short stop in The Sudan

Visiting a Bedouin encampment. Seeing the dead city of Suakin. Seeing Port Sudan only from the window of a bus because a tourist had been murdered there the week before.

Quick Tips:

Do not go to The Sudan alone, or without an Arab or African with you. The country has no govenment, no discernable laws, and somewhere in the country hundreds of thousands if not millions are starving, always.

Best Way To Get Around:

It is best to have a desert-friendly vehicle, such as a Land Rover, filled with more fuel and water than you think you would consume in month.
