Nuevo Vallarta was very nice to stay in. It was close enough to Puerto Vallarta and yet it was far enough away from the bustle of the large city.

Nuevo Vallarta

Overview

Tequilla Tour - this was called Tequilla Six pack tour. The guide took everyone to the lava fields and then to a Tequilla factory, where you saw how the Tequilla is harvested as a plant to how it becomes everyone's beverage of choice.

The Mexical fiesta was excellent. There were dancers and musicians. The entertainment and food was spectacular.

The Pirate ship - the Marigalante was a blast. The food was delicious and the entertainment was very enjoyable.

Quick Tips:

The sun is powerful - be careful.

Best Way To Get Around:

The buses pretty much go anywhere and they are cheap. It costs one dollar to go to Puerto Vallarta. The cabs can be expensive, but you can chose that means of transportation.

Mayan Palace

Hotel

Best Things Nearby:
The mall, which had many restaurants and stores.

Best Things About the Resort:
It was close to Puerto Vallarta, yet it was far enough away to not be in the middle of the city.

Resort Experience:
It is a very nice resort. There are 250 acres. It is still under construction - so they only had one restaurant open for dinner - that was a bit disappointing.

There is a golf course and a pool that is four football fields long. The staff tried to be very helpful, but we always got different answers and usually wrong answers from them. There is 24 hour taxi-service and a bus that takes you downtown or wherever for $1.00. The bus was a nice, inexpensive way to travel.

The resort itself had a grocery store; it was rather expensive, but it offered the convenience of its location. It was easier to carry gallons of water back to our room from this store than from downtown.

We had a one bedroom with a kitchen which was spacious. The only thing that I would have liked was a larger balcony. The balcony was so small that all you could do was stand out there. There was not enough room for a table or even a chair. The view was not of the ocean, but we did overlook the downtown.

Barcelona

Restaurant

From the outside and the neighborhood, we were quite suspicious, but we ventured up the long climb to the dining room anyway. This restaurant came highly recommended and I could see why. The view was spectacular. This restaurant is situated in a residential section of downtown and the dining room is up about 4 to 5 floors on the roof facing the water. We watched the sunset and the ships passing by. It was absolutely breathtaking.

The food was superb. When I closed my eyes - I thought I was in Spain. The food was authentic and fresh. The Paella - which is there specialty - was made to order with fresh seafood and meat. We also sampled the serano ham and that just melted in your mouth. The service was impeccable. The restaurant and the ambiance was the perfect ending to the day.

Pipis

Restaurant

The restaurant itself is deceiving. There are two dining rooms - we sat in the front room. The room was decorated in authentic Mexican colors and blankets.

If you don't order anything else, you have to try the margaritas. They were huge and very inexpensive. The food was fabulous. The fajitas - which is the specialty - were to die for. The chicken fajitas were absolutely delicious, as was the guacomole that was prepared table side. There was a Mariachi band walking around the restaurant while you were eating. It was very nice to have the music and the serene atmosphere.

Mexican Fiesta

Activity

There was a ton of delicious food, from pork and chicken to beef. It was very nice to sample the local cuisine. The entertainment of musicians and dancers was spectacular. They ranged from Mariachi bands to dancers and musicians. It was very enjoyable to see children and adults participating in the activities.

All in all it was a very enjoyable night. Our resort hosted this Mexican fiesta, but you could pretty much find one in any hotel/resort in the area. There is one that is performed downtown in a park, but we were unable to go to this one. I have heard that it is well worth the trip.

Mexican Fiesta
Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico

Marigalante

Activity

The ship and crew are decked out in pirate garb. The cruise begins at 9am with a Mexican-style breakfast buffet. There is music and sword fights while cruising toward local dive spots. The crew incorporates the guests as well in their satire.

Around noon time you arrive at the Marieta Island, where you can snorkel, ride the banana boat, or stay on the beach. After about two hours, a barbecue feast is served for lunch on the boat. The cruise back is more entertainment and games for everyone. You arrive back at the Marina around 4 pm.

This was a very picturesque and relaxing day. It was really nice to spend the day on the water.
