The East Neuk of Fife (SCOTLAND)

An April 2000 trip to Scotland by HLIW

This tranquil and beautiful part of Scotland is a golfers paradise but also has an abundance to offer the non-golfer.

There are many public golf courses, some of which are along the North Sea. St. Andrews is also just a short drive away.
For the non-golfer, Edinburgh is about an hour away as is Banauchburn Battlefield and the William Wallace Memorial. There is no shortage of Scotish History in this part of the country.

Quick Tips:

A car is essential for exploring the area. Be sure to drive up to Anstruther and have a meal at the delicious and affordable ANSTRUTHER FISH HOUSE.

Best Way To Get Around:

A car is the only way to go!

Best Things Nearby:
St. Andrews, Edinburgh, The William Wallace Monument, the Scottish Highlands are all nearby. This resort is tremendously well located.

Best Things About the Resort:
The people, the service, the accommodations, the stables, the restaurant! What is there not to like! This is by far the best time-share experience we have had to date.

Resort Experience:
The castle suites, where we stayed, are in the main building, which was once a castle estate belonging to the father of Robert the Bruce. They are luxurious! We had a 3 bedroom which had a well appointed cherry kitchen, jaccuzi tub & tanning bed. It was lovely.

BE SURE TO DRIVE UP TO ANSTRUTHER AND HAVE LUNCH OR DINNER AT THE ANSTRUTHER FISH HOUSE!

On the resort property is a thoroughly modern stables where one could spend all week taking lessons, riding on the beach, taking trail rides, etc. I recommend making those arrangements in advance if possible. There is also a pool, snooker room, laundry facilities, driving range.......the list goes on and on.

St. Andrews is about 40 minutes away by car and has much to offer the golfer and non-golfer. Don't miss the Bottle Dungeon! Edinburgh is about an hour away.

This little fish house was rated best in Scotland for fish and chips. It is inexpensive and very, very good. It is always busy and full of locals. The fish and chips are FANTASTIC and the price is right!
