3 Days in Barcelona

An October 2002 trip to Barcelona by Leet

What I learned from my first 3 day visit to Barcelona.

  • 4 reviews
1. Plan ahead, Barcelona is huge!
2. Do the Bus Turistica tour, it will give you a good grounding.
3. Visit the Sagrada Familia if you can climb the towers - it's a bit scary though!
4. Definitely do Park Guell but leave yourself a good few hours for a wander and a rest.

Quick Tips:

1. Spend as much as you can afford on a good hotel. For a good budget place try El Rei Don Jaime in the Barri Gotic.
2. Under no circumstances book into the Hotel del Mar!!!!
3. Eat at La Taxidermista in Placa Reial

Best Way To Get Around:

Use the metro as it's cheap and easy.
Awful! Situated in a dark square. Hotel staff surly and noncommunicative. Rooms are bare, dirty and dim. Ours was situated on a floor with a TV right outside around which were gathered 4 or 5 men watching a film loudly! Our door had no way of being locked from the inside!!!

Restaurant | "Pans & Companys"

A good quick sandwich stop in a busy sightseeing day! A wide range of baguettes with interesting fillings. If you get the Bus Turistica you get a good meal deal voucher.

Restaurant

Situated in an old teaxidermist shop in a picturesque square. Queues were common before the restaurant opened. Service was excellent and honest. We asked our waiter to recommend the best Rioja and he didn't choose the most expensive bottle!!!
