Orlando Fall Family Vacation with 4 and 7 year old

An October 2002 trip to Orlando by sunday27

Quote: Orlando is such a fabulous vacation spot for families and October is a great time of the year to visit. The weather was beautiful and the crowds were light. There is so much to do and see in Orlando that there's never enough time to get everything done. However, with some advance research about what you really want to do - you can get a lot packed in. This journal describes my October 2002 vacation with my husband, 2 children (4 and 7) and my mother-in-law.

Attraction | "Pirates Dinner Adventure Show"

I have mixed reviews for the Pirate's Dinner Adventure Show. They charge $46/adult and $28/child. However, I found a ticket outlet that sells them for $30/adult and $22/child. I called to make a reservation early in the day (reservations recommended). We arrived early to get a good seat. Upon entering, we were sold a "souvenir" book of the show for $5. I wanted to look at the book before buying it but wasn't allowed, and we were told they didn't sell them after the show. After that, we had to pose for a family photo (which they’ll sell you later on). We were then allowed to go into an open area where we could enjoy the free appetizers (plain chips, pretzels, nachos and salsa, veggies and di...Read More

FAO Schwarz

Attraction | "FAO Shwartz"

Quote:
If you have kids (or ever need to buy things for kids, or just want to feel like a kid), head to FAO Shwartz. Located on International Drive, the store is next to Wonder Works and is not hard to spot with a huge teddy bear and many more "toys" outside (such as big Barbie shoes, a giant Raggedy Ann and more). Posing with these giant items makes great photo opportunities. We spent a couple of hours in the store just looking and playing with the toys. The store is divided into sections such as Barbie, stuffed toys, baby toys, wooden toys, Lego, Hello Kitty, collector dolls, and much much more. Some of these sections are like stores within the store. My kids loved it, but I loved it just as much and their...Read More

Attraction | "Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party"

Quote:
The Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party was the perfect way to visit the Magic Kingdom and have a special family night out at the same time. From the Disney website description of the event, I couldn’t tell what rides (if any) were open for the party. It turned out that almost every ride was open. This was in addition to a number of special events including the handing out of treats to the children (and occasionally to the adults), face painting, a FREE family photograph, a kids' costume parade, storytellers, Halloween fireworks (a witch flew away from the castle instead of Tinkerbell coming towards it) and much more. We didn’t have time to do all of the events, but we had a great time anyway...Read More
