An October 2002 trip to Lake Como by AndrewL
Quote: As part of our honeymoon in Italy my wife and I spent to great days in the wonderful and beautiful town of Bellagio situated on Lake Como.
Overview
One of the key attractions to the town are the two famous gardens: Villa Serbollini and Villa Melzi, both are very beautiful. The town also offers numerous shops and restaurants.
We visited during October, which seemed to be the ideal time. The trees were just beginning to change color to make the already fabulous views even more spectacular. In addition, the weather was very pleasant and the town never felt crowded at all.
Hotel
The hotel has many amenities such as Tennis Courts, Fitness Center, indoor and outdoor pool, etc. Since our stay was only two days we didn't get the opportunity to take advantage of most of them.
One very nice touch is every night in the hotel's bar a classical trio performs. It gives just the right touch for the atmosphere.
One thing to note is the hotel is very formal even for a luxury hotel. Most people are dressed up even for breakfast. But despite this it does not feel stuffy at all.

Restaurant | "La Pergola"
La Pergola is both a hotel and resturant, all of the tables are situated on the patio outside all offering great views of the lake. The patio is covered with Ivy, which is the trend at most restaurants in the area, and situated right next to the lake.
The menu is heavy on local seafood, but also offers several pasta and meat selctions. We ordered both pasta and the local fish and were very pleased with the food. However, the view and the relaxed atmosphere are what truly make the place worthwhile.

Restaurant
The menu is typical of the area offering a selection pasta, local fresh seafood, and meat. The service was very attentive and friendly. About the only thing missing from this place is a view of the lake. The prices are reasonable since I would classify this as one of the higher end restaurants in Bellagio.
