This was our first time at the timeshare for vacation and the second year of spending a week with my daughter and her family. We didnt have to work hard to enjoy ourselves. The best things were simply relaxing; a wonderful catamaran harbor trip; just walking around Newport and looking at the historical sites as well as the many shops; Traversing the Cliff Walk and being awestruck by Marble House tour.

Quick Tips:

If you're a planner, do so early. Lots of events, but they fill up quickly. Plan on making reservations in advance at many of the better resturants.

Best Way To Get Around:

Walking is the definite way to go. Park the car and walk the town. Its easier to get around, less hassle and you can see more shops. Lots of places to walk to, things to do and see. For some of the sites, a car is necessary.
Long Wharf
Best Things Nearby:
The Ocean, great shops and good restaurants.

Best Things About the Resort:
Besides the location - the comfortable "hotel" living, but with more privacy.

Resort Experience:
The rooms are very comfortable and well laid out. The layout is much like that of a luxury hotel. A small foyer at the entrance gives you room to maneuver luggage inside. A full-size closet by the door allows for storing stollers, bags and coats or other hanging attire. To the left is the second bedroom and second full bath. To the right leads to the kitchen. Its full amenities allow the user to feel at home, cooking regular meals. Off the kitchen area is the living room, with very comfortable furniture (sofa, two chairs) which allows a relaxed evening for reading, watching tv, or enjoying the views of the harbor. Past the kitchen area is the master suite with clothing armoire (and enclosed TV), and a large private bath. The feel is apartment living, but with the benefit of hotel management (front dest, daily cleaning, etc), still have the fun and facilities of a resort community. 5 of us stayed quite comfortably, and there were accomadations for someone to stay on the sofa-bed in the livingroom if necessary. The resort provides indoor/outdoor pools, movie theatre, movie rentals, and gas grills for steak dinners - just like home. The resort *is* on a wharf, which is across the street and a stone's throw from the water. An excellent view of the harbor and surrounding area is wonderful.

Restaurant | "The Atlantic Beach Club"

Atlantic Beach Club
Very enjoyable, from the wait staff to the views of the ocean. The food was good, delivered timely and presented well.

The resturant caters to all dining styles, from casual dinner after the beach, to more dressier affairs.

Small children are welcome.

Attraction

Fort Adams
Just a short drive or a water taxi ride across Newport Harbor stands the largest coastal fortification in the United States.

You can visit the quarters of Lt. Col. Joseph Totten, who designed & built the fort.

You can ascend to the scenic overlook for a breathtaking view of Newport Harbor & Narragansett Bay.

You can enter the casemates where the big guns once roared, or stroll the 6 1/2 acre parade field.

You can walk through the complex outerworks that helped defend against land attack, and if you dare, enter one of the listening tunnels beneath the walls of the fort

From 1824 to 1950 Fort Adams housed generations of soldiers, and today stands ready for your enjoyment.

Attraction | "Brenton Point State Park"

Kite Flying
Occupying the former grounds of one of Newport's grandest estates, Brenton Point State Park affords its visitors one of the most commanding and spectacular views on the East Coast.

The park is located at the point of land where Narragansett Bay meets the Atlantic, midway along renowned Ocean Drive.

Visitors can enjoy picnicking, hiking, fishing, or just relaxing with the cool breezes and majestic views of the Atlantic

The winds are constant along this point of land and kite flying seems to be the major "sport". Hosts of people fly an amazing assortment of kites, from the very small to the very large.

Also known as "First Beach", Easton faces south with the northern starting point of Cliff Walk as one of its ends.

A large, busy beach, with lots of area to sit and relax. as well as snack shops.

Handy showers and facilities are close by.
