Mucho day trips, Ultra snazzy resorts, great service and reasonable prices make this beachside paradise my home away from home! My last trip down we spent a week at the Royal Mayan esort. This is offically now my favorite resort. The place is huge with 3 giant freeform pools- multiple restaurants (something for everyone, pizza delivery for me). This resort was like staying at an all inclusive in that all your meals drinks and shopping at the resort (or any of the other 3 MAYAN resorts and Captains Cove) was charged to your roomkey and you settled up at the end of the week.
