Washington, DC - so much to do.

A travel journal to Washington, D.C. by Litangel

Since moving to Washington, I've discovered so many great things about the city. (Besides the politics, of course)

  • 4 reviews
- Smithsonian - FREE museums, can it really get any better than this?
- Walking around the monuments on a nice day
- Great ethnic foods in Adams Morgan and Dupont Circle
- Touring the Capitol and wathcing a session of Congress

Quick Tips:

- Don't just stay downtown, visit Dupont and Adams Morgan areas for lunch or dinner.
- If you like to run or bike, Rock Creek Park is the place to do it
- If you get tired of the city, rent a car - the beach and the mountains are both 2-3 hours away.

Best Way To Get Around:

The metro is very convenient to all of the sights and taxis are moderatly priced. But the city is small and you can walk most of it if you enjoy walking.

Restaurant

The best Thai place I have been to in DC - and I've been to quite a few. Good locale, great food. Try the Panang Tofu - Yum.

Attraction | "National Zoo"

The Zoo is free, which is great, so you can go there on a weekend and spend an hour or make a whole day out of it. It's very convenient to the metro as well, which makes it easy to spend the day there then hop back to your hotel/home. The area it's located in, called Woodley Park, has a selection of great restaurants for after-Zoo eating - including a good Indian place called Rajaji.

Attraction

The theme is Toledo, Ohio. A strange theme, but there is a great selection on the juke box and the waitstaff is friendly. As everywhere else in this area, it is packed on the weekends. The Toledo Amber is a good beer selection - and if you are hungry, get the nachos - they are HUGE and tasty.
