Day or Night - Bright Lights

A travel journal to Las Vegas by EPearl

Quote: Originally, this trip was an addition to a pre-planned vacation. The travel agent said it didn't cost any extra to make the stopover. It was more than we ever imagined!

Day or Night - Bright Lights

Overview

Quote:
From the moment we got off the plane, we knew we were in for something special. What first gave it away were the slot machines in the airport. Seemed really strange! It had been a while since I was last in Las Vegas. It really wasn't so strange. It was a make believe world, day or night. Wonderful shows, good food, lots of chances to sightsee nearby attractions.Quick Tips: Check ahead of time before you arrive in Las Vegas to see who is performing in the area. You might be surprised to find your favorite star in one of the bigger casinos. There are plenty of tours available that include flight, accommodations, and meals. Price-wise, it's not that bad. Just be careful in the casinos. ...Read More

Hoover Dam

Attraction

Quote:
I have been to so many natural wonders of the world, that it is about time to look at one of the man-made wonders, and that is Hoover Dam. It is just a short distance (about 30 miles) from Las Vegas, Nevada and easily reachable by car or pre-arranged tour. It was named after the 31st president, Herbert Hoover. Previously known as Boulder Dam, its primary function is to be a major supplier of power, as well as provider of flood control, and regulator of the Colorado river. The dam is 726 feet high and over 1,200 feet long. It is absolutely immense in its proportions. You really have to see it to appreciate this man-made wonder. The wonder is how something this large could have been built at all....Read More

Spa At The Las Vegas Hilton

Attraction | "Las Vegas Hilton"

Quote:
Out of all the casinos in Las Vegas, I mention the Hilton because we did spend a bit of time in both the casino and their very large convention hall, where we had booked reservations to see the superstar of the era - ELVIS. That might not seem much to someone who was not a fan, but we were totally stunned to learn he was entertaining in Las Vegas. This has got to be one of the most exciting nights of my life (don't laugh!). I have been to Las Vegas before and since, but have never been to a performance to equal that of the one we saw that special night in the Hilton hotel. We stood in the long line, curved around the casino floor, for at least an hour. Our wait was not in vain! Because of a wond...Read More

Grand Canyon National Park

Attraction | "The Grand Canyon"

Quote:
Seeing the Grand Canyon is a very do-able trip from Las Vegas - and you shouldn't miss the chance to see this spectacle of spectacles. Mother Nature in all her grandeur has, with the help of the Colorado River, created this magnificent sight. There are jeep, bus, airplane, and helicopter trips that can be arranged to the Grand Canyon. Which rim of the Canyon you see will be determined by how you get there. But any way you do it, you will be sure to be stunned by what awaits you. Words are totally inadequate to describe the huge chasm in the earth's surface, produced over millions of years. The total length of the Canyon is over 270 miles and varies in width from a mile to 18 miles. It is about ...Read More
