Quote: Bergen has a spectacular setting among seven hills and is one of the norways most lively cities. It is also considered to be the rainiest place in all of Norway... (not to miss the shops selling canned boxes of `bergen rain':P)

A short walk from the Bryggen is the terminal for the Fløibanen, Funicular railway (every 30min; 30kr return) that runs up to the top of Mount Fløyen (one of seven hills), where there are panoramic views over the city. There are some good walks mapped out through wooded areas around the hilltop...

Quick Tips:

There's plenty to see, from Bergen's fine medieval buildings, museums, and aquarium centers to the city center which is always buzzing with activity.

The city is divided into two distinct parts: the wharf area, Bryggen (a popular tourist hangout), and the modern center, which stretches from behind the main square inland.

Unique Qualities: very quiet, beautiful countryside, relatively inexpensive caravan accomodation - it's well worth the effort! Directions: just about forty minutes drive ...Read More
