Lake Tahoe in the Summer

A July 2002 trip to Lake Tahoe by MikeK

Lake Tahoe is maybe the most beautiful place on earth. I've gone in early spring and summertime and either is wonderful.

On our last trip to Lake Tahoe in July, 2002, we were lucky enough to have exchanged into a unit over the July 4th holiday. They have fireworks that are beyond belief. The local casinos pay for the display which is put out in the lake visable for many miles and which is set to music broadcast on a local station.

Quick Tips:

It is best to plan on eating at somewhat off times of day due to the crowds in popular restaurants during peek hours. we often ate a big (INEXPENSIVE) breakfast at a casino and didn't get hungry until later in the evening. Also, picnic meals abound on the beaches.

Best Way To Get Around:

You definitely should have a vehicle while there so you can do all the day trips such as Olympic Village, Donner Pass, Reno, The house that the Godfather was shot at, Tuckee (for antiquing and wooden sidewalks!), and even a trip to Folsom Prison where the convicts have a craft store and there is an interesting museum of the prison!!
