The Pocono mountains hold the promise of a beautiful, relaxing family vacation spot. That promise held true. There was lots to do and lots to enjoy. My husband and 2 young boys (3 & 7) loved the Pocono mountains and can't wait to go back.

Overview

Swimming in the many resort pools, exploring the tons of hiking trails and the Niagara of Pennsylvania were some of the things we enjoyed. My kids fished in the Delaware River and even took a quick swim too. We relaxed, explored and had lots of fun times.

Quick Tips:

You definitely need a car to fully explore and enjoy this area. The visitors centers are really helpful.

Best Way To Get Around:

Definitely need a car.

This place is great. The food is wonderful, the atmosphere is comfortable and the kids love the train that travels through the rooms. They give the kids crayons and a coloring menu to work on. It is very reasonably priced and we highly recommend it.

Attraction | "Paws and Claws"

This is a private zoo that is kind of out in the middle of nowhere but worth the drive. It is really nicely done and the animals look very well cared for. You walk in and pay admission in the gift shop where they give you a map and off you go. There is a schedule of shows/activities and times to plan your day. You should probably plan at least a half day for this place. Lunch is limited but they had cheap food like hot dogs and big soft pretzels. You could also bring a picnic and eat in the shaded picnic area by the snack hut.

Attraction

There are many hikes to take depending on your eagerness and physical ability. The shortest one is 15 minutes and your admission comes with a map and guide. This is really a beautiful spot and very relaxing but the steps can be tricky so be careful.
