Overview

Quote:
Skopje is a mixture of ethnic groups. Here Macedonians, Serbs, Turkish, Albaniana, Roma, and Roman people live all together. Because of that the city has very diferent parts.Skopje lost most of it`s beauty because of the huge earthquake in 1963. Many people died and many monuments were lost forever. People from all over the world came to re-built our town, so it got the look that it has today. One of the oldest monuments is the Kale. It's a stonemade fortress that was built during the Roman reign. You have a beautiful view on the city from it`s top. There are many bridges across the river Vardar, but the most beautiful is The Stone Bridge (that was built in 15th century). We also h...Read More

T`ga za jug

Restaurant

Quote:
This is the place to try our Macedonian cuisine. The food is prepared the same way as it was hundreds of years ago, and has very original taste.

You must try out Tavche-Gravche (roasted bean), Turlitava (mixed and roasted vegetables with meat slices), Sarma (baked mixed ground meat wrapped in cabbage leaves), Zelnik (a kind of pie with meat, cheese, and spinach), and Mousaka (tomatoes filled with meat or rice....mmmmmm). It's delicious, but our food has lots of calories, so be careful!!!

Well, you can choose from Mexican fast food to "regular" sandwiches. But beware, the burgers that we make here are twice bigger than the ones in McDonald`s or Burger King. They put french fries in almost all of them, and they are very greasy but very tasty!!!

Also in Zito Lux you should try the Turkish specialty that we adopted - Bourek with meat, cheese, spinach, and pizza burek...it's very cheap and you`ll leave the restaurants full!!!!!

Irish Pub

Attraction

Quote:
This is one of the best pubs in the city. It has original interior and original Irish meals as well as drinks and music. You pay only one Euro for soft drinks, and from one to two Euros for a big glass of Heinneken, Amstel, or Guinness.

I think you shouldn`t miss this pub. It has live performers every night. This is a wonderful place for locals to meet foreigners, and foreigners to meet locals. Also, you can hangout with your friends here and get discounts if you are a regular guest.

If you want to get away from the noisy and polluted town, you should climb the 1020 meter high mountain Vodno that is on the Southwest part of the town. This is a wonderful place to clean up your lungs and to get the best panoramic view of the town. It's best viewed at night, but it`s nice at daytime too. On the top,the Church, with the support of the Government, decided to put a 76 meters high cross as a symbol of Christianity and as a gift for the celebration of Two Milleniums of existance of this religion. At night it's illuminated, and you can see it from every part of the town. You can get to the top of the mountain by car, or if you go by daytime you can climb. But you must see this - it`s ma...Read More
