We stayed at the Stoneridge Recreational Club Condo, where they have swimming, basketball, golf, hiking and biking. The golf course was superb. But we found that the best times were to be had by wandering away from the resort. If you are at all physically fit, you ABSOLUTELY MUST rent bikes and go on the Route of the Hiawatha. It is a slightly downhill ride along an old railroad grade, through several tunnels, some very long and dark (and cold). The ride takes a couple of hours. Afterwards, on the long (almost 100 mile) drive back to Stoneridge, stop for dinner at the Hotel Coeur d'Alene. It is the best buffet I have ever eaten! The restaurant overlooks a marina, and the lights reflecting off the water and the surrounding mountains and sky give the place a very romantic ambiance. The menu looked pretty good, which is what drew us in. But then we saw the salad bar, and there was no question what we were having.
