When in Newport be sure to check out: Ocean Drive, The Cliff Walk, Bellvue Avenue Mansions, Salve Regina University and Thames Street's shops and restaurants--some of the best include: Brick Alley Pub, Cheeky Monkey, Rhino Bar & Grill and The Red Parrott--all located in and around Thames Street. Also, don't forget to check out--Fort Adams State Park, Hammersmith Farm and Easton Beach.
Quick Tips:
The summer months are the busiest and therefore the most expensive, but if money isn't a concern, you will be treated to beautiful weather, beaches, ocean breezes and an overall great atmosphere. If you are flexible with your travel dates be sure to visit in the Fall. The foliage is breathtaking, the crowds are fewer, the air crisp, water sparkling, prices lower and festivals are going on almost every weekend! :) Best Way To Get Around:
Newport is a walker's dream! Thame Street, The Pier and Bellvue Ave are the main tourist spots. You can walk up and down (and all around) for the entire day and see many of the sites. However for SPECTACULAR beauty please be such to visit Ocean Drive and the Cliff Walk...you may need a car rental for Ocean Drive--whatever you do--do not miss it!
