An August 2002 trip to Pula by Layne

Quote: Croatia is a country just beginning to emerge from at least a century of strife. It is safe to visit though, and if you are looking for a very rustic land vacation or a gorgeous sea vacation, you might enjoy a trip to Croatia.

Overview

Quote:
Spend as much time as possible on the coast. Walk through town but be prepared to be disappointed if you are looking for shops or history--not much of either here. The country is obviously still struggling to recover from its recent chaos.

Quick Tips:

GO to Croatia by boat! The best part about the country is the coast.

Best Way To Get Around:

You should rent a car in order to get around most effectively between the city center and the beach and outside city center areas. To get to Pula via ground transportation, you can choose between renting a car and taking a bus. There are no trains from Italy into Croatia. The most beautiful way to get to Croatia is by sea.
