Best Way To Get Around:

Threadgill's

Restaurant | "Threadgills "

Quote:
This simple restaurant was a favorite of Janis Joplin when she lived in Austin. It is also a fav of mine whenever I go home. This is one of the few places in town where you can get a decent order of fried green tomatoes.

Amy's Ice Cream

Restaurant

Quote:
Amy's ice cream is not 'just' an ice cream parlor; it is an experience. First you pick out your flavor and topping. Then watch as the Amy's Ice cream handlers toss, flip and bang your combination together. Try Amy's as you step off your plane to visit the city as there is a location just a few feet away in the Bergstrom Airport.

Sardine Rouge

Restaurant

Quote:
This is one of the VERY FEW five star restaurants in the city and, it is the best out of those few. And after all it is a regular hangout of Michael Douglas.

I had dinner here once. They brought the plate of swordfish to my table, then the waiter came back because the chef got mad at him for bringing it. Apparently the chef wanted me to have the best meal possible. He thought the swordfish I was served was over-cooked, so he wanted to make me another plate. How's that for service? Needless to say my swordfish was the best I have ever eaten.

Out of all of the clubs that reside on Sixth Street, Maggie Mae’s is one of the oldest. To this day, it is also one of the best. The music is always incredible with bands like Soul Hat rocking the house on a regular basis. If you want good music, drinks and great people visit Maggie Mae’s.

In the winter bring with you a lot of warm clothing it has been known to snow and at all times you will freeze your bottom off without a jacket. Toiletries & Medical Supplies: Bring smelling salt just in case the heat gets the best of you. And don't foget your Off spray. The Mosquitos can be deadly!
