Climb Flinders peak. There are also everal areas to picnic and this is a great place to see wild kangaroos, wallabies, possums, and koalas.

Quick Tips:

Try to go in the morning or just before dusk for the best chances of seeing animals. The park rangers will also give you some tips on where to look.

Best Way To Get Around:

walking, once you're in the park. However you will probably need your own transport to get to the park.

Flinders Peak

Attraction

A relatively easy climb amongst eucalyptus forest. The You Yangs themselves are rugged volcanic peaks which rise sharply from the flat plain below. Thus there are impressive views to be had of Port Phillip Bay, Geelong, and even far off Melbourne. Also the sky can look spectacular up here as you watch clouds or even storms move across the plain below. We were told that we "would see koalas" by the park ranger. But either they'd moved or we missed them, because we didn't see them. We did see wild kangaroos though near the base. There's also a lot of rock outcroppings, etc. that make the climb interesting. This was pleasant way to take a break from driving and enjoy the morning....Read More
