Since we obviously weren't going to be doing much (good) skiing in May, and we were traveling with our 15-month old daughter (i.e. no casinos), we thought that our trip might be limited to sitting on a Tahoe beach for 7-days. Not the case! While we did spend a couple of days going to the beach, early May did not provide for the warmest water (not that Tahoe is ever that warm) and even sitting in the sun on the beach got a little chilly. We did, however, take advantage of one of the variety of different options for boating on the lake, the Tahoe Queen, which took us on a tour of the south part of the lake and Emerald Bay. Let's start with the location of this resort. It is literally right across the street from the Heavenly Ski Resort (CA side) parking lot and the gondola that takes you to the top of the mountain. We were there in May, so no big deal. If you're planning to go in winter, then this is about as ski-in/ski-out as you can get without being on the ski resort's property. The neighborhood that the resort is in is residential, which keeps the traffic to mostly residents (except in ski season...of course).
