A First Class City-Chicago

An October 2001 trip to Chicago by luuckythree

A First Class City-Chicago

Overview

Quote:
We enjoyed it all: Navy Pier, Heard Museum of Natural History, Wolfgang Puck's, a Thai noodle eatery, and even our accomodation.

Quick Tips:

Go in October! The weather was fabulous, and that made our visit even better!

Best Way To Get Around:

Without a car, it'd be difficult to see what you want. Unless you stay downtown and only visit those sights-and it costs almost double to stay downtown.

Nicely separated bedroom and living/dining area. Mini-bar fridge and micowave were well utilized. This turned out to be a quiet hotel and we enjoyed using pool/spa, and getting the breakfast made to order in the beautiful atrium. We also used the concierge service and found it to be very good.

Nice view, smallish room. Location was key here. You could walk to many sights. Lobby is beautiful. The on-site pub is popular. I got a reduced rate because they were remodelling our floor.

I found it to be really an experience plus a meal. The waiter knew the menu-and made the meal quite a value. And the food was consistently great no matter what you ordered. Also, I enjoyed the atmosphere. Going here is pushing me to visit his Las Vegas restaurants.

Lot's of dishes to choose from! Open kitchen concept and many employees make this restaurant one I'll come back to eat. Vegetarian dishes were good too!

Navy Pier

Attraction

Quote:
The lake breezes are cold, but if you're going to experience crowds, weather makes a difference. This is very enjoyable because we didn't feel rushed. We did exactly what we wanted with a neat vista of the lake in background stopping occasionally to drink hot cocoa to warm up.

It is a spacious and well run museum. The gift shopps and bathrooms are well organized. The docents are well informed. We visit this museum every trip to Chicago.
