Perhaps my love of traveling spawned from the fact that I traveled across oceans before I could even talk! My parents adopted me at the age of 4 months through a charitable organization in the US. In the year of my birth, approximately 5000 other children were adopted from South Korea by families around the world. The adoption rate has declined since the early 1990s due to criticism of Korea as "selling their babies", but the country still ranks in the top 3 for international adoption (behind China and Russia).
