DON'T FORGET THE CITY PASS

Overview

Quote:
The San Francisco City Pass is a good place to start - simply using it for seven consecutive days of unlimited muni and cable car transportation () and the 1 1/2 hour "bay cruise" () has it paid for!! In addition, the free admissions to the the California Academy of Sciences & Steinart Aquarium, Exploratorium, Palace of the Legion of Honor, and the Museum of Modern Art offer nearly another benefit that will easily supplement any other sightseeing plans. Quick Tips: Did I suggest the City Pass?? :) - check out the local farmers' market on Wednesdays and Sundays, or a craft/flea market on Thursdays and Fridays at the Civic Center, and theatergoers, don't forget the 1/2 price (day of show) ti...Read More

Recently renovated, the "old Victorian," now the hotel Mosser, is conveniently located just a few blocks from Union Station and the Powell-Hyde cable car terminus. For a special $49 nightly rate offered by Expedia.com (posted rate in room is $119), I had a cozy (approx. 10x12ft), well-lit and ventilated (large window and light/ceiling fan), but comfortable room, on the eigth floor featuring a queen bed, sink and mirror, and reasonable closet space. IMPRESSIVE!! An easy walk (about 2 1/2 miles roundtrip). However, be prepared for sudden shrouds of fog!! Truly an engineering marvel! Bus route stops right at the bridge.

Attraction | "Blue and Gold Fleet Bay Cruise"

Quote:
The 1 1/2 hour tour of San Francisco Bay is a nice little perspective with running narrative (which was a little difficult to hear much of the time). Departing Pier 39 every 45 minutes, the passengers are ferried north to the Golden Gate Bridge, and then return via the northern side of Alcatraz. Parasurfers enjoy doing acrobatics in the boat wake along the way. A surprisingly smooth ride for a relatively small craft.
