Nitra Castle is one of the symbols of this city. Together with the city sign (the hand of a knight holding a sword) and a statue of Atlas, it is a well- known symbol of Nitra. Nitra castle was place where few Hungarian kings lived at the beginning of the 2nd millennium (years about 1000). Today it is one of centres of the Catholic Religion in Slovakia. It is worth to visit also because of the nice view from the castle. Together with the parks around it, Nitra Castle is a good place to spend a afternoon by walking and enjoying the city.

Zobor hill

Zobor hill is the southest mountain in the Tribec Mountains. From Nitra you can walk to the north many kilometres through a nice woods with leafy trees. Zobor Hill and Pyramida (a few metres higher above the city) are also very popular among inhabitants of Nitra who like spending half a day or so walking and relaxing during a weekend. And for me the best time is to visit it with friends on 31st of December at midnight to see fireworks above Nitra city.
