Home to Six Flags Great America, with some of the biggest, fastest, most innovative rollercoasters in the us; Bittersweet Golf Course , an beautiful "bittersweet" 18 hole public course, and shopping, shopping & more shopping...

Riding the Rollercoasters at Six Flags, browsing around & taking fishing lessons at Bass Pro Shop.

Quick Tips:

BTW, "Gurnee Mills" is a mega shopping mall... not a "destination". The city it is located in is simply called Gurnee.

Best Way To Get Around:

Steak 'n Shake

Restaurant

Located just outside Gurnee Mills Mall, the restaurant is one of a chain with locations throughout the Midwest and southern states. They're famous for steak burgers, thin crispy french fries, and deliciously creamy, real milk shakes and malts. The chili is good too. They also serve breakfast, which is good too - I especially liked the biscuits and gravy!

The diner is 1950's style, all red/white and chrome with black and white checkered tile floor. The staff is always very friendly. Good for kids too - the have a kids menu and crayons to keep the little ones busy.

Perfect start to a long day of shopping at Gurnee mills or a day at Great America. They're open 24 hours a day!

Activity

Gurnee mills is located right across the street from Six Flags Great America ~ perfect for families with older children! Drop the kids off at the park for the day, leave your husband at the Bass Pro Shop Outdoor World (which is across the street, in an adjacent mall) and then go shopping!

Ok, it’s a humungous mall, with hundreds of shops, mostly discount, outlet, and some specialty shops, 2 food courts, an ice rink, a 20 screen theater, and plenty more!! Check out the store directory.

FYI, The mall is designed in a "straight" walk rather than a "track or looping" fashion, so walk down one side to the end and make your return trip on the other. Otherwise, it’s a very long and boring walk back.
