Starting from the caravan park in Waitomo goes a walking trail up to some caves. The trail goes through pastures with cows and sheep.

There is not much choice in accomodation in Waitomo, but I am sure we took the best option. In the caravan park we got ourselves a cabin for NZ$35 for one night for two people. This is for a very nice cabin with big double bed, sink and heater. The facilities are very clean and very new. Besides that the manager is realy nice.

It is very touristic, but for whom can cope with that it's well worth doing. For just over NZ$20 you buy a ticket for a guided walk through the Glowworm Cave. This is not a very long walk and for people who have seen caves before it's not that spectacular. However, at the end of the tour you get a boattrip into the Glowworm Cave itself. This is really amazing. It's completely dark and it's like a sky full of stars.
