Getaway in Bali

Overview

Quote:
For me, as a person who has never been to an Asian country, the culture shock was definitely the best experience. Me and my girlfriend spend a week on Bali, and every single second classifies as memorable moment.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

The best way to get around is to just get yourself a driver on the street. You won't have a hard time finding one. Everybody with a car is offering to drive you around, but make sure you bargain on the price.

The cottages are nicely situated in a very green garden. It was a relief to get of the busy street into the relatively quite garden. The rooms are big and clean. The bathroom might be a bit run down, but this is not too bad.

La Monde

Restaurant

Quote:
We decided to go for a walk and see what sort of restaurants were in the neighbourhood of the hotel. Just across the street from the hotel a waiter from La Monde started making conversation with us. She showed us the menu. This, and the friendly service made us decide to go in. We got seated on the balcony so we had a good view of what was going on on the street, which was very nice. We didn't have to wait long for our food and it was very nice. We had a couple of beers. What amazed us most was the price of the dinner. For less then 40,000 rupia we had a great dinner and a nice experience.

Legian Snacks

Restaurant

Quote:
Ever since we've found this place we had dinner here. At first we came here because we liked it that we could take a look at the menu outside with waiters bothering us. The place has a bit more of a no-worries spirit than the rest of Bali. Above the entrance there is a sign that says: "Best food, lowest price" and this is true. Above all that the service was very personal. After a couple of visits we became friends with the manager. The place is not very stylish, but definitly homey. The decoration is simple, but it makes you feel at home.

Denpassar Markets

Attraction

Quote:
Going to the Denpassar Markets is a good opportunity to see some more of local life on Bali. The variety of products offered on the market is much bigger than on the street. Of course you have to bargain to get a nice price on any product. In order to get to the markets you can get transport on the street. Yet again, make a bargain.

Included in our daytour was a visit to the Padangtegal Dance Stage to see the famous Bali Dance. This ritual seems very spiritual. It's hard to describe what it looks like, but the music, the drums, it's all very beautiful to see and hear.
