However, let me suggest a few "must sees". The "Breeds Barn" is home to many, many different breeds of horses and as many as 40 different ones can be seen there at one time, some of them very rare and unusual. Also rare and unusual at least for a barn is the fresh clean smell. When we were there it was in the 90’s and there was very little bad smell. In the middle of this facility is a show arena where at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM daily different breeds are presented. The horses shown on the "Breeds Show" are different at each show so you would do well to see both shows. After each show one breed is selected and children or anyone can have their picture taken on the horse for a very nominal fee. Another thing to do is to take the horse drawn tour, which is free with your admission. There are miles of white board fence and memorials to "Man of War" and other famous steeds along with two different museums. The park is open year round but schedules vary. For more information call them at 800-678-8813 or access their website at www.kyhorsepark.com.
Now 10 years later an almost completely rebuilt and restored P-38 named "Glacier Girl" sits in her hanger at the Lost Squadron Museum in this city. Many photographs, memorabilia, souvenirs along with actual parts of the aircraft that were unusable are offered for sale. A taped presentation of the aircraft’s history is shown and museum personnel are available to answer questions. Picture taking is encouraged and a viewing balcony is provided (small). The museum is located at the airport in Middlesboro just off US 25E and is open daily 8-5. Phone 606-248-1149 or visit their website at www.thelostsquadron.com for more information.
