Extended my Cancun vacation with 3 nights at the Fiesta Americana Dive Resort in Cozumel.

Overview

Fiesta American
The Fiesta Americana was very pretty and the restaraunt was excellent. Chankanabb must not be missed - it was a beautiful beach area much like Xcaret but there were statues buried in the water that you could search for while snorkeling. Also like Dzul-ha for snorkeling - little bitty beach bar.

Quick Tips:

I thought the food was expensive especially compared to Cancun. Prices comparable to the US. Breakfast buffett was . Bus from airport to Playa and ferry to Cozumel worked very well. Downtown square had some nice shopping and good food.

Best Way To Get Around:

We took taxis almost exclusively except our hotel was perfectly located within walking distance to DzulHa and Chankanaab. We went to town most nights for cocktails and dinner (and of course a bit of shopping). We arrived Wed and left Sat for another week in Cancun - spent a very enjoyable 3 days.

All rooms had ocean views, roomy, in those lovely Mexican colors. Very clean, and comfortable. Restaurant was good, bar loby had some fun entertainment, and they had happy hour. Pool was very nice. Two lane road separated the Hotel from the beach, but it was barely noticeable with the walking bridge. Breakfast and lunch served in restaraunt by the beach. Cozumel prices are more expensive for food then Cancun. Would stay there again.

It was upstairs in the resort, very lovely, romantic, candle lit, with mariachis strolling from table to table. If we do not have facilities to store leftovers, we typically order only one main entree. We had fajiitas which are always good in Mexico. If we only order one entree, we then get to order appetizers which is my favorite. Not in this case, but if we are still hungry with only one entree and an appetizer, we get to order dessert. We find this the best way to not end up with left overs since portions in Mexico are quite large.

Very good but very expensive - especially with a 10-15 breakfast buffet. The view of the ocean was nice, service varied by waiter. We typically enjoyed the fruit bar rather than the entire breakfast buffet.

This beach in Cozumel is breathtaking. It is less than a mile from the Fiesta Americana Dive Resort and is easily walked. There is a cover charge, but it was our favoritie part of Cozumel. Some reviews like Dzul Ha better, but we like Chankanaab.

It was about two blocks from the Fiesta Americanna. The snorkeling was not that great but we ended up meeting a snorkeler way to the left of the bar in about 15-20 feet of water. She pointed us to about 25-30 feet of water and there was a sight I will always remember. A River of Bar Jacks (maybe 2000 fish) on the bottom of the ocean, and a barracuda swiming about 15 feet above. As the barracuda moved deeper, the river departed and the fish made way making sure not to get too close.
