Overview

In the summer time there is always a Jazz festival happening on the waterfront in Toronto as well as a film festival in the latter part of summer. Make sure to get there early to park and enjoy a fabulous dinner before. As Toronto is a multicultural city which celebrates its ethnicity, you will find Chinatowns, Little Italy, Greektowns, Koreatowns, etc. which will serve the best international foods you've probably tasted in North America. It is also a very safe & clean city so you can feel free to wander around, or catch a show (some of the theatre productions I've seen there include: Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon - all excellent and at exceptional prices considering a U.S. dollar exchanged will give you .60 Canadian. Prices are very similar to U.S. so your buying power is much higher across the border.

Quick Tips:

Make sure to try various restaurants listed in Toronto Life magazine, a reliable source for good food. Walking around Kensington Market in Spadina & Dundas (Chinatown) is always an experience - there are some really good cheese shops & bakeries that you should check out. If you are not into the busy market scene try Yonge & Eglington Ave - there are great restaurants and wonderful little shops to explore. If you like upscale shopping, Yorkville (bay steet and bloor street) is the place to go. Don't forget to check out Holt Renfrew for the latest fashions and William Ashley for one of a kind gifts. If sports is your thing the new Air Canada Centre is great for catching a basketball by the Toronto Raptors or a hockey game with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The ferry ride to Centre Island is cheap but romantic (pack a picnic or buy a lunch there) as is a drive along Lakeshore.

Best Way To Get Around:

The public transportation is excellent in Toronto as the subways run every few minutes and link with streetcars and buses above ground. You can buy all day passes if you are planning to do a lot of touring during the day. Walking is especially good around downtown areas (especially in exploring China town on Spadina & Dundas). The produce in China town is absolutely fresh and cheap! Driving is also a good option even in downtown just avoid rush hour and be prepared to pay. There are two malls that are just off the subway line - Yorkdale mall (at Yorkdale subway) and Bayview Mall (off of Bayview Sheppard line subway). Both have great selection of merchandise including Banana Republic. Try Ten Ren's tea at the Yorkdale mall - the mango smoothie is incredible.
Best Things Nearby:
Downhill skiing in winter, lovely golf courses right on the site,an indoor/outdoor heated pool open year round, various hiking trails nearby,a lake and 45 minutes away from Toronto.

Best Things About the Resort:
It is newly built and is spotlessly clean. It is like a dream home. It is spacious and has a huge jacuzzi tub along with a fireplace and very beautiful open-concept full kitchen stocked with everything you could desire.

Resort Experience:
It is so peaceful here that if you are really looking to get rid of the "white noise" so ever-present in our lifestyles - this is the place to go. You can hear the birds, the wind and either relax in front of the fireplace with the window open (many which open to the golf course) or go out for a round of golf yourself! Green fees are absolutely a steal, especially after 3pm. If you want to head to the city for some fun, this is the closest Gold Crown timeshare to Toronto. There is a spa on site as well as several restaurants featuring American food. If you'd like you can cook your own meals - the dream kitchen has everything you could possibly need including bakeware! The service is excellent and your needs and concerns are addressed quickly and efficiently.

Absolutely the best Italian pasta you'll taste. Decor is rustic tuscan and there's always great music and ambience. The pasta noodles are made in-house and each entre is made a la minute...meaning they do not premake sauces in a pot but make each order separately from scratch. The Udine pasta with goat cheese is heavenly as are all their pastas. Although reservations are not necessary there are usually line-ups so it's better to make one and be on time.

This place makes the best pad thai I've ever tasted. Their fresh Vietnamese rolls with poached shrimp is also mouth-watering as appetizer. The ambience is elegantly modern with dark walnut woods contrasting with the frosted glass decor. Also try the green curry which is both creamy, sweet & spicy. They also have a sister restaurant on Yonge St. and Eglinton named Green Mango. It's the same menu but the decor is much more casual.

Restaurant | "Mars"

This is the place to go for a great weekend brunch. It is a comfy, 50's feel place where orange juice is freshly squeezed, the coffee excellent and the brunch menu to fit your appetite. The Eggs Benedict is awesome here as are all their brunch selections. You won't leave hungry.

Gam Tong HouseBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

The space is small and usually crowded but it's the food that keeps'em coming back for more. Very authentic korean food. Every item on the menu is good but I recommend for those who love spicy seafood - jam pong. They make all their korean noodles in-house and the jam pong (a noodle soup in a spicy seafood broth) is a real winner. The ja jang mein is also good (noodles tossed in black bean sauce korean style) as are the kal bee (short ribs marinated in soy garlic sauce and grilled), if you like tofu the soon du bu chig gay is wonderful(spicey tofu soup) but you can't go wrong ordering anything here.

Lee's Garden RestaurantBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Lee Garden"

If you love fresh seafood and authentic Chinese food this is the place to go. The decor is very casual but the food is the main attraction. Excellent seafood - the steamed grouper in black bean sauce is amazing as is the mango chicken dish which is only offered in the summertime. All of their food is really first rate but be prepared for long lines and parking hassles if driving to Chinatown to eat here.
