First off, very few things in Caye Caulker are air conditioned, it isn't needed. We stayed in the cabana, it had 2 double beds, small refrigerator, small dresser, hot/cold shower. They do have a hotel in town that is air conditioned.

Our first snorkeling adventure in Caye Caulker was with Salvador. He showed us his boat and how easy it would be to get out of the water and into the boat. We are amature snorkelers and not strong swimmers, Salvador guided us by the hand (sort of pulled us along)so we could see all the beauty of the reef and colorful fish. Salvador was very attentive to all our needs

While this was a diving/snorkeling tour,it was great. We stopped at 3 different places to snorkel/dive. We went to Hol Chan Marine Reserve, The Blue Hole, and Half Moon Caye. They provided fresh fruit after each dive/snorkel spot and all the purified water one could drink. They assisted us with our equipment and offered great suggestions. We did not feel like we were tag alongs with the divers. They provided lunch for us at Half Moon Caye. It is an all day adventure everyone should do.

Ross Creek

Attraction

Quote:
Ross is a very colorful local man. He has great knowledge of the Caye. Everyone knows him and he knows everyone. His boat is small, but very comfortable, and he does not overcrowd it. It has a palm leaf roof and a deck where one could sit on the top. He tells stories about the wild life and people on the island. Our snorkeling trip took us to Shark/Ray Village. Ross held manta rays and nurse sharks, he will assist you in holding one if you desire. Great thrill. Ross prepared lunch for us on his boat. At the end of our trip he sang songs he wrote. Duration of trip - 1/2 day

Salvador arranged for an excursion to Altun Ha Mayan Ruin. We left Caye Caulker and traveled by boat to a village, Bomba. In Bomba there were little stands where the locals were selling their wood carvings, everything from bowls to statues. We then traveled by bus to Altun Ha, our guide Rico, was very knowledgeable about the ruin. We were able to climb to the top of some of the ruins. Then back on the bus and off to a resort for lunch. At the resort one could swim in their pool or arrange for horseback riding, or just enjoy the surroundings. After our visit at the resort we headed back to Bomba by bus, then a boat ride again to Caye Caulker.
