Belo Horizonte: City of culture

Overview

Quote:
See the markets on the south side of Belo, they sell absolutely everything - all at fabulous prices. Visit the many pubs and clubs, they are swinging with great music (from Samba to rock) and have great atmosphere.

Quick Tips:

Bring a Portugeuese to English book!!! There is very, very little English spoken in this city.

Best Way To Get Around:

Best way to get around is in taxis - although be wary, some cabs can take you on a "grand tour"

Nice suite, outfitted with TV and stereo in the living room and a small but funcional kitchen. All rooms have air conditioning, but with the temperate climate - it's not needed that much. The location was also good - it's next door to a very nice restaurant, up the street is a CityBank outlet that accepts all major cards and on the crossroads is a McDonalds and a small shopping centre.

Brilliant night spot - great atmosphere and brilliant music. The locals are friendly :)

The beer is good - just make sure you drink bottled beer and if you drink shorts, stay away from ice.

There are pool tables in the middle of the club where you can have a game or two, but later at night is gets so crowded, there isn't a chance!

It is a long way from the centre of Belo, so the taxi charge to get there is relatively expensive - approx. 50 reals. But definetely worth a visit to see how the locals get down and party :)

Sunday Market

Attraction

This place is a goldmine of knic knacs. Not only do you find clothes and electronics, but there are about 20 lines of stalls dedicated to local art and craft work. The arts and crafts are very cheap and definetely worth taking some home. A friend of mine bought some paintings there and shipped them home, there are some really talented artists selling their wares there.
