We have made several trips to Kauai, and each time we are called back. This journal entry will focus on out of the way fun things to do for the budget minded visitor to the Garden Island.

Hanalei Pier
After you have gone through the "101 Things to do in Kauai" relax by visiting waterfalls, drink milk from fresh coconuts, visiting a fruit farm, and relax at the Hanalei Pier. Visit Tunnells beach for snorkeling at its best (we saw more fish than we could count!)

Quick Tips:

Don't get in a rush while on this quiet peaceful Island. If you are like myself and have a hard time slowing down, this is the place to go. A few days here and you will be relaxing in the sun while enjoying God's beauty.

Best Way To Get Around:

A rental car in Kauai is a must if you want to enjoy all of its beauty. As an interesting side note, the old Hanalei bridge on the North Shore built in 1912 is not capable of handling tour busses. This is by design to keep the area as natural as possible.

Best Things Nearby:
A small shopping center with adquate groceries allows for quick shopping for food and snacks. Old town Hanalei is only a few minutes drive. For a more formal dining experience, the Princeville Hotel, Post Cards Cafe, and other fine dining establishments are nearby.

Best Things About the Resort:
The area is very quiet and within close proximity to shopping, the beaches, and golf courses. Units are updated regularly and have full kitchens and laundry facilities in room.

Resort Experience:
Rooms are clean and well maintained. The pool and jucuzzi provide a restful setting to unwind after a day of sight-seeing. The moutains overlooking Hanalei are brilliant when the morning sun rises up out of the sea. The North Shore is THE PLACE TO GO to see magnificent sunsets!

Local Dining at the Green Garden
We have serveral favorites on Kauai, including the Camp House Grill, Bubba's Hamburgers, Dukes, and others. But for local flavor and great service we recommend the Green Garden in Hanapepe. We have had great fun dining at the Green Garden, visiting with world class surfers and long time native Kauai residents. The Green Garden is open for dinner nightly.

Attraction | "North Shore Snorkeling"

Snokeling at Tunnells Beach
Snorkeling is for everyone! The shore to visit will depend upon the wind current as high winds mean high and dangerous surf. Our trip in June presented winds favorable for snorking on the North Shore of Kauai. The coral reefs on the North Shore provide refuge for the many bright colored fish. An underwater camera is a must.
