Homebase in Scottsdale

A June 2002 trip to Scottsdale by Charlesdutch

Stayed a the Scottsdale Camelback Resort, which is a great homebase to venture to Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon (day-trip), or other local attractions.

There's a great Cuban/Mexican restaurant about 1 mile west of the resort on the South side of Camelback Road.

The Grand Canyon is a do-able day-trip. It's well worth taking the Flagstaff route, versus through Williams, AZ. It's much prettier, and cooler as well.

Phoenix "Discovery" Museum for kids is one of the best we've ever seen (get to the top floors quickly though - they have the best exhibits).

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

Best way to get around - driving.

Best Things Nearby:
Location is everything here--you're in Scottsdale!

Best Things About the Resort:
Good place to use as a homebase. The resort itself tries to be one with lots of on-site activities, but they pale in comparison to a "destination resort."

Resort Experience:
This "resort" is more like a typical townhome complex. Other than the fact that it has a pool--a necessity in Scottsdale--nice tennis courts, and a fair exercise room/spa, it has little else.
