Mombasa and Kenya animal preserves

An October 2001 trip to Mombasa by Mrs. Mullins

Visit to two animal parks, sightseeing and the Indian Ocean, all in one trip.

Go to the Masai Mara last. You'll be spoiled if you go there first. I saw a cheetah with her 4 cubs kill a gazelle. I saw two leopards in trees. Lots of elephants, zebras and varieties of antelopes, including the rare sable antelope. It's a beautiful country and should be on your list of "not to be missed".

Quick Tips:

The Royal Safari Club is right on the Indian Ocean. It has excellent food. It was a great base for travling to the animal parks. They can arrange the tours. I felt very comfortable traveling alone, but had tour guides for most of the time.

Best Way To Get Around:

I prefer the taxis. They drive on the left side of the road, so if you're from the US, be careful if you drive.

Resort Experience:
This timeshare is a few miles from the center of Mombasa. It is remote, but accessible. The units are very spacious. It's right on the Indian Ocean with a beautiful private beach. They have a restauant on the premises. Breakfast and lunch had limited selections, but dinner was always fantastic.
