Beautiful Venice

Overview

Wandering the streets, Palazzo Ducale (English translated audio guide), people watching in Piazzo San Marco, Duomo San Marco (absolutely stunning). Side trips to Burano (so quaint) and Murano. Pasta is incredible (dinner at Al Tre Spiedi)Quick Tips: It was Carnivale while we were there so it was fairly crowded but fascinating! Be prepared for limited sleep though. Deep, bold colors, almost to the point of being tacky, yet not. Very nice bathrooms, small room however--not much space to walk around beds. (Two single beds) Courtesy staff, helpful even. Nice location on the Grand Canal--good location to catch a water taxi for Murano/Burano trips. Also, very convenient to train station for next sites.

No reservations needed for our visit. Food was terrific (veal marsala and angler). One waiter spoke English so our order took a bit of time (didn't want a fish staring up at us when it was served). The tiramisu was the perfect ending. A number of tourists here (got some tips for our other destinations) as well as locals.
