Cosy, small colored houses, friendly and clean that is the citycenter of Queretaro and that is the small hostel we stayed in!. It´s run by a brother and a sister who love to meet foreigners. They make you feel at home and the hostel itself makes that very easy aswell!!

The Jirafa Roja hostel is a little house in one of the beautiful cosy streets of Queretaro. Atu and Iwan (who run the hostel) made it a beautiful place to stay and their company makes it even better! The rooms and walls are painted white what gives a very southern atmosphere and is refreshing in the warm sun. On the roof hangs a hammock and the breakfasts I took there in the sun are unforgetable! The hostel is decorated with a lot of taste which makes it easy to love the place. For me and my sister it felt as if we had lived there for a week instead of visiting Queretaro. If you visit Mexico, you should definitely go there! It´s only two hours drive by bus from Mexico City. It´s really really worth it!

Quick Tips:

From Queretaro you can go up to the mountains and (safely) hike/bike/swim/camp whatever in an amazing nature resort. There are some beautiful churches high up in the mountains as part of a pilgrim route.

In Q. it is very nice just to walk around and watch the beautiful houses, churches, local markets etc.

Best Way To Get Around:

To get to Queretaro the easiest way is to get a bus from Mexico City. In the city centre of Q. walking is the easiest. Outside the centre you can get buses or taxis. To get to the mountains for nature, the bus is the easiest way to go.

The best hostel I´ve ever been to! Small, cosy, personal, beautiful, tastefull, cheap, friendly hosts. The hostel is situated in the historical centre of Queretaro and that makes it even finer to stay. The historical centre is quiet, beautiful and friendly aswell! The hostel is run by a brother and a sister who (are young and) love to travel themselves and speak English very well. They made our stay very comfortable and interesting. They gave us all kinds of tips and kept us company. The best tour guides I could have wished for!
