Hong Kong

Overview

Quote:
There are about 200 lush islands in the Hong Kong province. The main island of Hong Kong has one of the highest population densities in the world and is filled with shops. The British colonized Hong Kong until 1997, when it was turned back over to the Chinese. These influence can be seen in the progressive market place and variety of cultures that inhabit the islands. Quick Tips: My favorite activities include Victoria Peak, Stanley, and Ocean park. Ocean Park

Located outside of Hong Kong in Aberdeen, Ocean Park merges the Eastern ideas of parks with the Western ones. Roller coaster rides resemble those in the states, while the gardens and pathways are definitely Asian. The rides won’t match the thrills you might be used to, but the park is interesting and worthwhile, with the highlight being a cable car trip over the mountain, with an amazing view. Ocean Park also features: a Reef and Shark Aquarium, Raging River Ride, Aviary, Bird shows and Dragon Ride. On any given weekend you will meet swarms of ever impeccable Chinese, dressed to the nines. Make sure to check the schedule for show times and enjoy the scenery.

From the beach we hired a boat to take us wake boarding. I worried a little about the belongings on shore, but gave it up to fate and tested my luck on the water. The highlight was driving in between the islands, which were loaded with beautiful houses and amazing lagoons. We found our inlet and jumped in. Since we were novices, our guide pantomimed the required motions from the boat. I can’t say that I actually learned how to wake-board. But I did prove that drinking the water, even in large...Read More
