Insider's View of South Africa

The South Africa that I was expecting to see and the one that I saw were completely different. When I went I was expecting dirt roads, garbage everywhere and no real modern conveniences. Was I surprised!!! This place was like being in the middle of America!!

Quick Tips:

Take a nice camera with a fast shutter and a wide lense.

Best Way To Get Around:

Depending on how much time you have, I think the best way to get around is to rent a car. If you use common sense it's pretty safe but women should never travel alone.
This was a great place to stay. It's convenient to all the major attractions in Cape Town. It also has a shuttle service that will take you everywhere you want to go. All the rooms face the ocean so you get a great view and if you love to people watch the lobby is the place you want to be.

Robben Island/Robben Island Museum

Attraction | "Robben Island Museum"

When you board the ferry from the V & A Waterfront you have no clue what to expect. When you get on the island it just looks like any old prison. When you see the penguins you laugh. By the end of the tour you want to cry. All the guides that work on the island are ex-prison inmates who were jailed for fighting for what they believe in. They tell you stories about what really happend and how the prisoners were treated. Since they tell it from first hand experience you believe it even more.
