Unusal ToursMore Photos

My husband and I, along with his younger sister(22)and her college roommate, visited M.B. during the Memorial Weekend which was also Biker Weekend. This was a great vacation with some interesting people around. A lot of our dining experinces had a very casual atmosphere, great drinks and wonderful food.

The highlight of this trip was obvisiously the beach. We also ate a lot of great food and saw some sites.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

We rented a car. Besides walking, it's the only way to get around easily.

Best Things Nearby:
Beach

Best Things About the Resort:
View of the ocean. Very helpful resort staff.

Resort Experience:
We stayed in room B14, which is the top level on the corner. The view from the balcony was amazing. There are 2 swimming pools and a hot tub. The pools were a little cool, but not bad after a day at the beach in the hot sun.

There is one BBQ grill and several tables and chairs. There is very little parking, you have to go about 1/2 a block to a parking garage which is shared by other hotels.

They had some activities, the best one was the happy hour and my husband went golfing with the staff on Wednesday.

I was dissapointed that the condo only had one TV and one phone, both located in the living room. The sofa/sleeper was very uncomfortable, you could feel the springs. The bedroom was closest to the beach and overlooking the pool. 3 out of the 7 night we could hear people partying until at least 2:30am(even thought it closed at 10). There is NO secruity guard on site so you have to call the answering service. You have to go up a flight of stairs to get to the elevator, and then walk up another flight of stairs to get to the rooms - we took the stairs most of the time.

The check in and check out was very simple and quick. If we wouldn't have had an ocean view this resort would have been really lacking. There is Riptide 2,right next door but we didn't look into any rooms. I would suggest to NOT visit Myrtle Beach during Memorial Day weekend due the the rowdy atmosphere on the beach with all the bikers.

Fiesta Del Burro LocoBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "(Fiesta Del) Burro Loco"

We never had dinner here, we just went for happy hour (4-7). There is lots to look at in this restaurant, 45 foot mural of a bull fight, Elvis mural, and many authentic artifacts of Mexico. They have hand squeezed lime margaritas for $11.50 a pitcher, (very good) and free hotwings for happy hour. They also have $2.00, 10 inch pizzas from Labor Day until Memorial Day. We ordered 2 pizzas, one chicken one spinich and the 4 of us were stuffed. We also tried the chicken nachos-I've had better.

Dead Dog SaloonBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

This place is right on the water at Murrells Inlet. We sat outside on the deck, great view. The only food we had was a cup of chili and onion rings. At this location we had a lot of wonderful and unusal drinks. The drinks ranged in price from $4.25-5.75. Some of the drinks were Inlet Breeze, Fuzzy Alligator and Banana Split. We went before noon so there weren't many people there and the service was excellent.

It was late on Saturday night and everything on Ocean BLVD was closed (due to biker weekend) so we headed up few blocks and found this great restaurant. The atmosphere was very casual and there were many families there. Between the 4 of us we had a chicken sandwich with fries, hot wings, and a grouper sandwich with fries. Draft beer was $2.00 and icy cold. They also have a happy hour from 4-7 pm with half price appetizers and drink specials.

Pier 14 Restaurant LoungeBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "Pier 14 Restaurant, Lounge, and fishing pier"

Pier 14 was within walking distance of our condo so we spent a few days eating and drinking here. We never ate inside so I can't comment on that menu. Outside on the deck the dress is very casual, it's right on the beach so many people come in their bathing suits and sandals. Besides a pitcher of Pier Breeze (vodka, rum, pinapple and O.J) we had a grouper sandwich (excellent)and popcorn shirmp (excellent)along with a salad. This place has a great view of the ocean and the beach. They also have music at night for dancing.

Key West GrillBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant

There are 2 areas to eat, outside on the deck overlooking the water at Broadway at the Beach and inside dining which is a little bit more upscale. We had excellet food at this restaurant, Fin and Fish (chicken and mahi-mahi), filet mignon, conch chowder & crab cakes, Duvall Street Pasta (pasta and chicken). Besides the excellent food we also had excellent service.

If you like Jimmy Buffet this is the place for you. Pool tables, juke box, inside and outside dining. We had a chicken quesadilla and chicken fingers for an appetizer and then we shared a burger and fries and club sandwich with fries. All the food was great.

Since I don't go on rides we didn't stay too long at this park. It was very busy with lots of rides and games and food booths. It is in an a really "happening" area of town.

Freaky TikiBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Freakie Tiki"

The night we went women got in free before 10:00 and men paid $10.00. This is an 18 and up club (which we found out later that night) so I don't know the price for 18-20 year olds. $2.75 bottle beer and $1.50-3.00 shots. This was a pretty happening dance club for the younger generation. My husband and I are 30 and we were just about the oldest people there! They have a foam room, which they opened later that night. You can also dance in a cage.

Crocodile RocksBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

This is a dueling paino bar. These men put on a great show, the best one I've seen so far. Very entertaining and also a great way to meet people of the opposite sex. $2.00 tap beer they also have mixed drinks available. If you've never been to a dueling piano bar...you can request your favorite song by writing it on a napkin and including some money ($2-$20). If there is a song playing that you don't like you just have pay more than the person who requested it. Some of the songs do get a little vulgar so don't take a really uptight person!

If you've ever been on The Ducks, this is a similar ride. This vehicle traveled on land and water. It's an excellent narrated tour of Waccamaw River, Hunington State Park and Murrells Inlet.

The cost is $19.00 with a coupon. It lasted about 2 hours.

Aquarium
This was an amazing aquarium. It is 74,000 square foot building right in the middle of Broadway at the Beach. You step onto a moving walkway and watch shark, eels, stingray and other sea animals upclose in a dome walkway. There are several different sections.

Baseball gameBest of IgoUgo

Story/Tip

We went to a Myrtle Beach, Pelicans baseball game. This was a great game and very entertaining.

The Pelicans are a Class A team affiliated with the Atlanta Braves. The games are played at Coastal Federal Field ($12 million field).

Parking is free and seat prices range from $7.50-3.00 for lawn seats. We got our tickets before we left but you can walk up day of the game and get good seats.

This is a great event for the whole family.

It is located across the street from Broadway at the Beach.
