This was a fun trip. Fun, sand... our first Mexico experience, and now we're addicted! Yeah, Cabo is out of the way, but it is worth the trip (and is inexpensive at that).

The most prominent natural feature of the area... very nice.
The town of Cabo San Lucas is infamous due to the attention of one Sammy Hagar... "white sands sure make a tan look nice...!" If you're into it, the town has the party... go to, The Cabo Wabo, The Gigglin' Marlin, or El Squid Roe for party time! I heard someone say, "I've been hung over in a lot of places, but this was the most worth it." Snorkeling in the Sea of Cortez was very nice...
Everyone we met was very nice. The captain of one tour boat let our friend drive the boat! We stayed at Sol Mar Beach Resort, and must say that even though it was dangerous, due to rip tides, to enter the ocean at land's end the beach was beautiful (and only a few people were on it!!!)

Quick Tips:

In order to get to beaches where you might swim, you have to take water taxi's, usually if you take a tour or pay for an activity, they may include a water taxi back to your hotel. Otherwise they are reasonable - ~20 pesos.

Best Way To Get Around:

Taxis from Sol Mar to town are about 40 pesos. Once in town, you can walk anywhere (it is actually only a short walk to SolMar). We rented a car for a few days, to get back to the airport and take a tour up the coast. If you're up for it, the drive up the coast, towards La Paz, is nice; watch out for the animals roaming the highway!!!

Sol Mar

Hotel

Our one bedroom apartment with partial kitchen was... s p a c i o u s !!! Cabo San Lucas, in general, and Sol Mar in particular, is the perfect place to get away from it all! It is in the middle of nowhere/bigtime partytown Mexico; you have the best of both. Sol Mar has three pools, one with a swim up bar, a whirlpool, a restaurant, and the most secluded beach you could ask for at a resort of this size. Alice say's there is nothing more you could ask for than a bloody mary in the pool in the a.m. ... :)

El Squid Roe

Restaurant

Holy Moly... We arrived much too early for this place! They seated us in the area that was soon to become the stage!? El Squid Roe is not for dinner! (But, the gigglin' marlin' was much more fun!!!)

One tequila....
This may not be the craziest place in all of cabo, but we had a good time! We had our "night before leaving town blowout" here, and it was Friday night!!! (I take back my earlier statement... this has got to be THE craziest place in all of Mexico!!! It goes without saying that drinks were constant(?!) (I don't know if constant is adequate...!), and the entertainment was right on. The Gigglin' Marlin is a good time!
