A long awaited trip which came unexpectedly and went without a word.Have been longing to go to London for years since everyone I know has been there but got a little dissapointed when I got there, but at least I saw the place with my own eyes.

did not expect London to be overly crowded, not much into crowded places as I come from a overly crowded city myself but next time I will venture out to the outskirts if I get the chnace.Stayed 10 minutes away from Oxford Street which is a very busy area, shops galore, people shop everyday like there's no tomorrow. But having stayed in such an area,it's all walking distance to Picadilly circus,Marble Arch,Camden Town and Covent Garden.Spent a day in Liverpool weekend market, every brand you know exist there at a lower price but just don't ask where it came from. And I love the smells of fried seafood that people were gorging down as they shopped,I too indulged. However I was dissapointed to find out that the night I wanted to go for the Jack the Ripper tour,it was cancelled,8 years I waited and it got cancelled?

Quick Tips:

If you're in London, try to catch a play at their theatreland,Covent Garden,it's fantastic that so many people enjoy the theatre. There's always a play that is happening nightly, worth the money. Do be careful if you're walking on your own at night, not very safe,a car pulled up beside me when i was walking back to my hotel,I just looked away and luckily they drove off.

Best Way To Get Around:

Walking is the best option there is,you get to see more but there's always the hop on and off buses, takes you round the city and you make a one payment which allows you to get on and off the bus whenever you wish to,it stops at all the famous landmarks or monuments.

Spices

This restaurant I believe is a franchise and have a few different locations, the one that I discovered was just behind Oxford Street towards Portland Street, follow the lane from Topshop and Miss selfrige and you can't miss it. Ate there twice as I was missing home food, a pretty place that gets quite packed during dinner. Run by Malaysians and Singaporeans they serve an array of dishes from Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia, from my experience the food taste almost as close to home and the best part is that they serve sliced chili with soy sauce. Spicy, the way I like it and they do take-aways too. Expect to pay about 10-15 pounds per person if you're eating in and less then 10 for take-aways. And the there's hardly a waiting time for your food, they prepare them really quickly.

The queue can go and on,best to go in the morning and get a head start. If you have infants, take note that strollers are to be left at a designated area and they will provide a carrier for your child. We found that out too late and caused quite a hassle cause my cranky niece had fallen asleep! As you go in,expect a crowd but bearable. Some of the works are realistic but there were a few that were not convincing.Consider a trip to Madame Tassaud's the only ticket to meeting the "stars". I personally enjoyed the vault of horror,I'm a horror fan. All and all it was worth the visit. And pick a souvenir on your way out.

Covent Garden

It's an area dedicated to arts and theatre. Bursting from every corner are ads on plays. Daily there's always buskers performing, quite a sight to see. I'm a very much into theatre, caught Chicago for 30 pounds, costly for me but then I'm not in London everyday. A good place to take a stroll and just enjoy the surroundings.

The London Eye

The London eye, you can't miss it if you walked towards the end of Camden, it's a huge wheel with capsules attached to it. The big wheel was successfully brought up only the second time round as the 1st attempt failed due to weak ropes that snapped before complete erection of the wheel. A few people go into the capsule and it moves in a circular motion in order for you to view London. The view is simply spendid and a good place to go if you don't have time to see everything, see all in one go.

Camden Town

Experience

Camden bustles with the younger crowd. The locals who go there are pretty much into goth and anything different. Whether it's fashion or food. But a very interesting place to see during the weekends, they have flea markets and there's a portion towards the end of the road that is a food haven, a whole row just dedicated to food. There was a man who had a cart of donuts, pastries and cakes, people were just queing, I'm assuming either it's nice or they were just tempted, I was too but was lazy to queue. Instead I headed for a pastry shop that had the works, they even had the middle eastern dessert, baklava. This town is extremely busy, people walking up and down and if you're looking for something different this is the place to go but be careful not to get in trouble, the crowd can get rowdy at times.
