Our youngest daughter is going to school at James Madison University. We decided to stay at Massanutten for a 4 day weekend. The fall is a beautiful time to visit VA.

We planned a layed back weekend. Our oldest daughter went to school 2 hours away so we had both daughters come from college to spend the weekend. Visited the surrounding area, went to dinner in Harrisonburg and cooked in the condo.

Quick Tips:

Don't forget your camera. The Fall is a beautiful time here. Just a beautiful relaxing place to be.

Best Way To Get Around:

You must have a car. The units are quite a ways from the restaurants and other facilities. This is a mountainous area and lots of winding roads.
Best Things Nearby:
Beautiful surroundings in the mountains. Resort Restaurant, Golf, Horseback Riding.

Best Things About the Resort:
Hot tub room. Deck overlooking woodland.

Resort Experience:
This was our first time at any RCI resort. The unit was a two unit villa. We had one bedroom, dining room, hot tub room, deck, partial kitchen but it served the purpose and two bathrooms.

We had dinner for the girls and another student who's parents didn't make it for parents weekend. We saw deer off the deck which also had a grill.

Boston Beanery

Restaurant

This was a nice pub/restaurant. Nice atmosphere, a college hangout but lots of families there.

The menu was varied but a good price. Definitely a good place for dinner and conversation.

Not far from the resort is Harrisonburg, VA.

The main strip on Rt 33 has everything you could want as far as shopping. Places to eat, gas up the car, bank. Anything. We went to the mall, of course, what else do college students like to do when the parents come to visit. Ha Ha.

Antique Shop

Activity

I don't remember the name or exact location but you do pass this place before the turn to Massanutten. It is a little shop with antiques and collectables. Next to it is a garden shop that sells hanging baskets and flowers. Just a nice place to spook around and maybe find that treasure you can't live without.

We got up early one morning and got coffee and bagels and went to the JMU Arboretum.

What a great place with lots of trails and scenery. We hiked to a great spot by a pond that was stocked with fish, had ducks and turtles were sunning on logs. Very peaceful.
