Copenhagen - an expensive city

An April 2002 trip to Copenhagen by Rainy

As I said, it's too expensive... And it's too quiet, maybe because we went there in April, not during peak season... Someone told me it's an 'open' city. The only thing I can find it 'open' is, you can go to Sex Museum...

Everything is expensive in Northern Europe. Therefore, we always had to find cheap food around this city. Kebabs is a good choice if you enjoy Turkish food. Take a cruise and enjoy the beauty of Copenhagen, a city surrounded by a river.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

You can just sit back and relax in a cruise tour... order a beer and prepare your camera, that's all you have to do on a cruise. We usually travel around by bus, as it is the cheapest means of transport.
This is the first youth hostel we have stayed... This is a very large youth hostel, and the most important is: It's very clean. We have a double-room, the room is very small, but it's enough for two people. The shower room is very clean... and every one has his/her own key for access to the toilet and shower room, so it's pretty safe.

The breakfast is not included in the price of the room, but as we observed, there's not much food to be chosen in the buffet, just bread and jam.

We have tried once in its restaurant for dinner... the food is expensive and really taste bad. If you want to save money, you can buy food from supermarket in the train station, and cook by yourself in the kitchen of the hostel. Many utensils are provided in the kitchen, and some former residents left their own food for sharing. So, we had cooked spaghetti... and even bowls and spoons, forks are provided!

Don't buy food from the reception, as it is more expensive than buying from outside.

If you go to this hostel from the airport, you can get on 250S (airport bus), then route 100. The driver is quite helpful - ask him to call you when you arrive.

Restaurant | "Lai Thai Thai Food"

Lai Thai is a very small Thai restaurant. It's so small that it can only accommodate 10 people. We felt very cold after travelling around by cruise. So, we went to find a cafe and wanted to have a hot drink. Lastly, we found out this small restaurant. We just ordered two big bowls of Tom Yum soup with king prawns! It's very spicy and delicious. We felt so warm afterwards!

Sunday is not a good day for travelling, if you want to go shopping... Because all the shops are closed on Sunday. Unfortunately, this is the last day we stayed in Copenhagen. No matter what, we still wanted to walk around the city centre, and let's see what we can find.

Paul Salmon is the street artist we met in the city centre. My boyfriend loves his pictures at first sight, and decided to buy one... I didn't really want to buy it, 'cos it's difficult to carry the picture for the whole trip (and this is our first stop only!) But the reprinted ones just cost 50Kr. So, I agreed to buy one only. Finally, my boyfriend chose a picture with a girl dancing. I think Paul is an expert in drawing girls dancing. And let me guess whether his loved one was dancing (or his daughter?)
