Honeymoon Down Under

Overview

Quote:
In the rain forest, we stayed in an eco-lodge called Silky Oaks - a beautiful under 50-unit resort in the middle of the Daintree National Rain Forest. In the rainforest are all sorts of interesting animals (platypus, butterflies, cassowarys - ostrich like birds) and wonderfully exotic fruits. The resort is beautiful and environmentally friendly. Hayman Island, a one-resort island in the Great Barrier Reef, is the place to go for luxury and relaxation. Beautiful surroundings and varied ocean activities, including sea-planes. Sydney had a lot of interesting things to do - we could have used more than 5 days to see everything.Quick Tips: Best Way To Get Around: ...Read More

Everything was new and high-tech looking, from the chrome and misty green glassed bathroom furnishings ...Read More

This amazing eco-resort is located in the middle of the oldest rainforest in the world. (But don't let the word "rainforest" fool you - when we went (October), the place was a balmy 70 degrees and not at all humid or mosquito-ey.) The resort overlooks the Mossman River. It offers an array of interesting tours throughout the area, including day trips through the Daintree National Forest, and nocturnal walks in search of platypus and other nocturnal animals. The main lodge floor is constructed of "Silky Oak", a richly textured "silky"-feeling wood. The resort offers a daily afternoon tea where they serve the most amazing scones the size of your hand, including fresh butter, cream, and jams m...Read More
