I was just in Colombia in February. I loved it and would highly recommend it as a destination. Bogota was great--it's huge, and offers everything from a picturesque old town to world-class museums to trendy shops.
As for Bogota accommodations, I ended up staying in 2.5 places there. I started at the Platypus, a rather legendary hostel where I had a rather rundown room. So I moved to Casa Platypus, its new sister option, which was much nicer--a great budget hotel with plenty of character (the good kind). Then I spent two nights at the Hotel de la Opera, which is absolutely wonderful if you're up for spending a bit more.
I'm embarrassed to say I haven't yet shared my IgoUgo Colombia journal, though I have shared a related post over at the Window Seat blog, which could be helpful in the meantime (since I would run out of space before I could list all of my favorite things about Colombia right now). Of course, feel free to ask more questions here, though!
