Facebook users - can you help Kiva?

Posted by koshkha on January 16, 2010

I hope that nobody minds if I post a little appeal for an organisation I support. Kiva.org is a site which organises international micro-financing, connecting ordinary people with a little cash to spare to entrepreneurs around the world who need a loan. This is done through a network of local field partners.

Kiva.org has been shortlisted for a Chase Community Giving award worth $1 mn. and votes are being gathered through facebook. I don't have a facebook account but if anyone would be willing to help by voting for this really worthwhile cause, please could they visit http://bit.ly/8dcnwe , add the voting application on Facebook, and then nominate "Kiva Microfunds."

Here's what Kiva said about the competition

"Winning the Chase Community Giving challenge would enable Kiva to make critical investments in staff to strengthen and expand Kiva’s Field Partner network while building and improving the Kiva website to better educate, connect, and serve Kiva lenders. By investing in Kiva’s unique model, we can generate about $10 in loans from the internet community for every $1 of award money we spend building and improving the platform"

It's possible I may be asking for something difficult - I just don't know because I'm not on facebook, but if anyone would be willing to give a vote, I can assure them that Kiva will use it wisely!

Thanks in advance if anyone can help!
