Americans who have been to Cuba?

Has anyone from the US been to Cuba recently? I would like to go in spite of the travel restrictions. I have heard that if you go through Mexico it's pretty easy. Does anyone know if they stamp passports either entering or exiting Cuba? I would think they do (as its a dictatorship) and I would worry about potential problems at US customs when I use my passport in the future... Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

I have heard that Americans first go to Canada to get to Cuba and then back to Canada, I think that way the American customs at the US Canadian border do not look at your passport, I think you can getaway with showing your driving licence.

But it is a shame that your Government has this hangup over this small country, you are living in the land of the free, for goodness sake lobby your politions
so that you can travel the world free. Good luck with your travel plans Cuba is a wonderful place.

I have heard so many stories regarding this. I know that Americans aren't really allowed in cuba, but I have also heard that legally they are allowed, it's just for some other restriction that they cannot enter. And also, aren't these restrictions for Americans going to be loosened soon?

Many Americans travel from Mexico to Cuba. Cuba is happy to not stamp your passport. You also have to worry about Mexico stamping it. This didn't used to be a problem. I'm not sure if this is still the case. Although rarely applied, if the US finds out you went to Cuba they can revoke your passport, for good, and lesser nasties, like fines and jail time. Mexico City and Cancun have frequent flights to Cuba.

Put a 20 inside your passport
Cancun is still a good way to go also Cayman's is ok
You can also go from Costa Rica but that is going way out of your way.
Have Fun and exchange your dollars for Mexican Pesos in Cancun
Castro now has a 20% surcharge on US dollars
